Where

Thiruvananthapuram, formerly known as Trivandrum, is Kerala’s capital and a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international visitors. Thiruvananthapuram, a business and commercial hub, has a rich cultural history that is primarily visible in its architecture, both pre-colonial and post-colonial. Settlements in and around this region date back to 1000 BCE. Thiruvananthapuram was an important centre on the Arabian Sea trade route even before colonial times. Thiruvananthapuram’s tourist attractions include its many nearby beaches, such as the Kovalam beach and the Shankumugham beach. As a major transit point within Kerala, there are numerous places of interest nearby that are either natural in nature, man-made marvels, or have religious significance. Thiruvananthapuram itself has many such attractions, such as museums and zoos, as well as religious sites such as temples and churches, that visitors may find interesting. Thiruvananthapuram’s Ayurveda therapy centres and Spas are also popular. Thiruvananthapuram attracts a large number of visitors all year and is one of India’s top destinations for foreign tourists.

Q Shopping

Trivandrum has a wide range of shopping opportunities. It is well-known for traditional handicrafts such as Kathakali masks and figurines made of ivory, sandalwood, and rosewood, as well as local spices and handloom, coir, and other fabrics. Spices and condiments are available at the Connemara Market and Sankars Coffee & Tea. They are close to MG Road, a popular shopping district in Trivandrum with a variety of stores. The Chalai Market is another popular shopping destination. The S.M.S.M. Kerala Government Emporium also sells a variety of goods, including paintings and other souvenirs.

Q Restaurants and Local Food in Trivandrum

While the traditional and typical staple diet remains somewhat consistent throughout most of Kerala, the variations in sides, drinks, and snacks give the cuisine a shifted and subtly unique form. Thoran, a dry mix of vegetables dressed with coconut bits, a stew made of potatoes and onions cooked in coconut milk, and Kalaan, made of buttermilk, melons, and ripe mangoes, are all popular dishes in Trivandrum. Banana chips are also a common and popular snack that is significant enough to be included in cuisine.
Aside from that, non-vegetarian food is just as popular as vegetarian food. From seafood to chicken to beef and pork, a popular menu has it all.
